100 Days Journal
Plan the challenge. Track your goals. Show viewers your setup.
Century Tales is a standalone client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft creators and players running a 100-day story—or a challenge of any length. Keep the current day, planned phase, selected tasks, and an optional mod/resource-pack Showcase visible while you play.
This project is maintained in xMrShadyx/Minecraft → century-tales/. It builds independently from the other mods in the collection.
Features
- Plan your challenge: choose a name and duration, then schedule phases such as Getting Started, Building the Base, or Exploring the World.
- Keep the story visible: display Day 24 · Building the Base, with separate day/phase text sizes, horizontal or stacked layout, and independent HUD positions.
- Manage goals: add, edit, reorder, delete, and complete tasks for a single day, a day range, or the entire challenge. Choose which tasks appear on the HUD and optionally hide completed ones.
- Showcase your setup: automatically discover the Minecraft version, loaded client mods, and resource packs, then choose exactly what viewers see in a dedicated screen or HUD panel.
- Export your plan: save the challenge details, goals, and phases as a local Markdown document.

Remap actions in Options → Controls → Key Binds → Century Tales. Journal buttons also open HUD editing and task interaction. In HUD edit mode, drag a panel, or click it and then click its new position. The counter, tasks, and Showcase move independently. Minecraft's F1 visibility is respected.
Challenge days, phases, and tasks
The first visit starts a 100-day challenge. Set its name and length in Story → Challenge settings; 50, 200, and 1000 days are supported too.
Day 1 is the Overworld calendar day when the journal starts. Sleeping and time commands follow the world's clock. The counter continues beyond the planned duration so an extended story remains readable.
In Phases, enter an inclusive day range and phase name. If ranges overlap, the last matching phase wins. A manual phase in Challenge settings overrides the schedule; clear it to return to the planned phase.
In Tasks, use a day range or set the first day to 0 for a challenge-wide goal. Toggle completion in the journal or HUD interaction mode. Completed HUD tasks have green checkmarks; unfinished tasks use the configured muted color. Add example plan supplies editable English examples when tasks and phases are empty.
HUD appearance
Day, phase, task, and Showcase text have independent font, scale, RGB color, shadow, and outline settings with a live preview. Counter formats are Day 24, DAY 24, and 24. Adjust the phase spacing and use a side-by-side or stacked layout.
Fonts come from actual Minecraft and active resource-pack font definitions. No extra fonts are bundled. Missing fonts or glyphs fall back to Minecraft's default font where available; characters absent from that default still depend on installed resource packs.
Showcase
Open J → Story → Showcase and select what you want to display. New items start unselected, and the Showcase HUD starts off for a new journal.
- Search names or IDs and show/hide versions.
- Use Libraries: shown or Built-ins: shown to include technical entries in the chooser.
- Inactive resource packs are labeled and cannot be presented as currently used.
- Present selected opens a separate paged Showcase screen.
- HUD: on displays selected active items during play.
- HUD settings controls text appearance, rows per page, manual paging, optional automatic paging every ten seconds, and position.
Only explicitly selected, currently loaded entries are shown. Removing a mod or disabling a pack hides it while retaining its selection for a later return. Showcase reads already-loaded public metadata; it does not enable or disable mods/packs.
The list describes the client setup. Hidden server-only mods/plugins cannot be discovered. Resource packs without reliable product-version metadata display their name only.
Session time and plan export
The Story page shows elapsed time since the current connection, including pauses and menus, in HH:MM:SS. It is an orientation aid for recorded footage and does not synchronize with a recorder.
Export plan (.md) creates plan.md in a new folder under the game's century-tales/exports directory, containing challenge details, goals, day ranges, phases, and any manual phase override. The export stays local.
Version 0.3.0 removed Album, remembered moments, the M action, screenshot attachment/preview, and automatic event journaling. Legacy moment/observation fields remain in old save files for compatibility, but are not displayed, appended to, or included in new exports. Existing screenshots and older exports are untouched.
Storage and privacy
Edits save immediately, periodically during play, and on disconnect/shutdown. Writes use a temporary file and atomic replacement where supported, with the previous file retained as a .json.bak backup. Corrupt or unsupported journals are preserved and disabled for that connection instead of overwritten.
A moved world, changed profile, or different server address may require deliberate journal migration. Two server worlds behind the same address cannot be reliably distinguished by a client. Back up files before migrating them.
No account tokens, private mod configurations, chat history, or other players' inventories are collected. There is no custom server payload or network upload.
