0.2.2 · Minecraft Java 26.2 · Fabric · Playable alpha

Explore your world with a minimap, compact and expanded world maps, personal waypoints, and paid teleportation through SP Economy.

Created by xMrShadyx, with the dark emerald and gold SP interface. Open with M or /spmap.

Features

  • Square minimap, initially in the top-right corner, with north, your direction and coordinates.
  • Compact map window and a larger window, switched with Enlarge/Minimize.
  • Drag to pan; mouse wheel to zoom; the small + locate icon in the map corner returns to your position.
  • Only physically visited chunks are revealed; loaded chunks outside your travel path stay dark, at any render distance.
  • Biome-based earthy colors, broad terrain relief, valley shading, depth-colored water and smooth terrain zoom.
  • Shared lighting across chunk boundaries and padded textures across region boundaries.
  • Local saved terrain tiles shared by all three views, separated by server/world, player and dimension.
  • Up to 100 personal named waypoints per player and world, saved at your current server position.
  • Twelve selectable waypoint pictures: Home, Dungeon, Cave, Mine, Village, Portal, Farm, Shop, Camp, Treasure, Danger and Monument.
  • Teleport panel with map, searchable destinations, prices, coordinates and icon editing.
  • Click a waypoint → Yes / No confirmation with the exact cost and remaining balance.
  • Server-owned prices, safe-arrival checks, single-use confirmation and persisted cooldowns.
  • Local minimap position, size, zoom and opacity settings; cancelled drafts do not change live settings.
  • /spadmin → SP WorldMap for server teleport settings and access to map preferences.

The terrain records real surface columns at one pixel per block. Grass and foliage use biome colors with a subdued cartographic palette, slopes receive shared near/far directional light and valley shading, and shallow/deep water use distinct tones. Linear filtering softens zoomed terrain while text and markers stay crisp. The grid is spaced at 64 blocks.

In-game previews

Actual English-interface Minecraft captures from October 14, 2026. The stone platforms visible on the map belong to the disposable teleport test world.

How to use

  1. Press M, configurable in Minecraft Controls, or run /spmap.
  2. Explore normally. The map records each chunk you physically enter; render distance does not reveal surrounding terrain.
  3. Choose Waypoint, enter a name, select a picture and choose Save here. The server records your actual position.
  4. Open Teleport, click the waypoint name.
  5. Check the price and remaining balance, then choose Yes or No.

Click a waypoint marker on the map to open its teleport selection. Find searches your saved waypoint names. The dimension button cycles the server's available dimensions; a dimension without cached terrain remains dark.

Settings contains minimap visibility, four corner positions, sizes 80–240 GUI pixels, opacity 20–100%, and minimap zoom 0.5–4. Save settings persists your preferences; Cancel discards the draft. The main map zoom range is 0.5–8.

Teleport settings

/spadmin → SP WorldMap → Teleport → Configure teleport requires game-master permission, normally OP level 2 or singleplayer cheats.

Default policy: enabled, fixed price 75 SPCoins, 30-second cooldown, cross-dimension travel disabled.

  • Fixed: charge the base price.
  • Distance: base price + ceil(horizontal distance / 100) × price per 100 blocks.
  • Cross-dimension travel can be enabled explicitly; distance pricing uses the coordinates of the two locations.
  • Base price and rate each allow 0–1,000,000 SPCoins; cooldown allows 0–3600 seconds.

Only your own server-saved waypoints can be used. The client cannot submit a cheaper price or arbitrary teleport coordinates. Confirmations expire after 15 seconds and are single-use. A changed price requires another confirmation.

The server refuses insufficient funds, disabled travel, cooldown, dead/spectator/sleeping/mounted players, unavailable dimensions, and unsafe arrival points. It searches a small area near the saved point for a supported, collision-free location without hazardous blocks or fluids. A teleport may load its destination chunk; normal map exploration never asks the server to load terrain.

Payment uses the existing SP Economy wallet through SP Core. Ordinary payment/save failures restore the original position, wallet and cooldown. Separate wallet, WorldMap and Minecraft player files are not crash-atomic: keep complete world backups.

Discovery and performance

World reads stay on the client thread in bounded batches with a soft 0.9 ms processing deadline per tick. A single chunk can exceed that soft deadline; it is not a hard FPS guarantee. File reads/compression/writes use a bounded background queue. Only a limited number of dirty textures upload in each rendered map view.

Terrain regions cover 256×256 blocks. There are at most 64 resident regions per dimension cache and two resident dimension caches. Panning a map loads cached tiles from disk; it does not load Minecraft chunks. Terrain that is still loaded is periodically sampled again to reflect changes.

The verification report includes measured sampling times. Those measurements exclude overall rendering and do not establish zero FPS impact or an FPS comparison with the mod removed.

Data and current limits

Server rules: config/sp-worldmap/settings.json. World waypoints, world identity and per-player cooldowns: <world>/sp-worldmap.json. Local preferences: config/sp-worldmap/client.json. Local exploration: config/sp-worldmap/maps/, with hashed world/server/player and dimension directories.

Upgrading from 0.2.1: visited chunks remain discovered. Older cached shaded colors remain visible; loaded visited chunks automatically gain separate raw color/height data and the new relief. Original version 3 tiles are backed up as .map.v3.bak before replacement. There is no need to delete exploration files.

Upgrading from 0.2.0: visited chunks remain discovered. Cached colors are re-toned immediately; loaded visited chunks are resampled for new slope/biome/depth detail. Old version 2 tiles are backed up as .map.v2.bak before their first replacement. The network protocol remains v2; 0.2.0 servers remain compatible with the visual update.

Upgrading from 0.1.0: old terrain colors are retained, but old auto-revealed chunks stay dark until physically visited. The first tile conversion saves its original as .map.v1.bak. Personal waypoints, wallet and world identity remain intact; existing markers default to Home. Both ends need protocol v2 (WorldMap 0.2.0 or newer).

This is a surface-map alpha. There is no cave mode, Nether interior rendering, entity radar, automatic village/structure detection, public teleport destinations, party/shared maps or quest-marker integration. Surface mapping in roofed dimensions shows the upper surface. Waypoint pictures can be selected when creating a waypoint and changed with Icon in the teleport panel. Custom color editing is not available.
